The LGC Awards is the premier event of the local government calendar.

Described as one giant hug for local government, this prestigious event exists to identify, showcase and celebrate the finest examples of innovation and quality services delivered by councils on a daily basis. Due to the high number of entries year on year, winning an LGC Award has become the most sought-after accolade in local government.

The 22 categories recognise cutting edge best practice across local government and are reviewed every year to reflect the ever-changing priorities and challenges facing councils today. The awards’ credibility is underpinned by an intensive and robust judging process which again is refreshed and redesigned annually.

Entry deadline

Ready, set, enter! Work with your teams to craft the perfect entry. Don't forget you can enter with just 1,000 words. Successful entrants shortlisted will have an opportunity to present their entry in more detail to judges. Your written entry should hit as many of the category criteria points as possible. Good luck!

Online judging begins

Time for the judges to get a hold of your entry and screen it, in this first stage of judging. Entries will be scored directly against the criteria by expert panels. Aggregate scores will determine our official 2025 shortlist from which the winner will be crowned.

Shortlist announced

Set your reminder, and find out who made the shortlist! This exciting announcement will confirm to the world of local government the organisations, teams and individuals who are leading the way in the sector.

In-person judging presentations

Time for our judges to decide who from the shortlist is deserving of the gong. All shortlisted entrants will be invited to present in a 25 minute slot with judges, on a day between 27 March and 04 April. For most categories this is done in-person at our London offices. Judges decide on the day who will win the award, after seeing all of the shortlisted entrants present.
