Susie Kemp is the Chief Executive for Swindon Borough Council. Susie has a strong track record of delivery, particularly with large complex transformational projects. She is highly motivated by improving service delivery for residents and driving high performance with a positive culture throughout the Council and with partners. She has previously held senior posts with Surrey County Council and the London Borough of Hillingdon.
Susie has a diverse background which includes running her own successful Public Relations and Recruitment business and being an elected member. She started her career working for a large Financial Institution in London as a secretary having achieved the London Chamber of Commerce’s Private Secretarial Certificate in 1979.
Susie has held several posts including Chair and President of Newbury Chamber of Commerce in her business days, governor of both Pangbourne primary school and Newbury Further Education College, Chair of the Local Government Association’s Planning and Public Protection Executives. She also represented the United Kingdom on the Committee of the Regions, the local government arm of the European Union, for 8 years.
As part of her role as CEO, Susie co-chairs the Joint Venture Board which is seeing some 2,800 houses being built on council owned land at Wichelstowe, Swindon with Barratt David Wilson plc.
Susie has a passion for gardening and a particular interest in dahlias with medals and even the odd trophy awarded by the local gardening club!
