
Gerard joined SCIE in 2020 and is passionate about SCIE’s work turning evidence, innovation and lived experience into practical action that improves social care helping people who draw on social care live fulfilling lives. When knowledge is effectively mobilised, it changes practice—helping people access the right support, improving their experience of care and achieving better outcomes, while enabling more effective and sustainable use of public resources. Before becoming Interim Chief Executive, Gerard led SCIE's consultancy and learning services, working with local authorities, government departments and partners to deliver lasting improvement. He has directed multi-million-pound programmes supporting social care transformation, including local authority readiness for reform, safeguarding, workforce development and embedding co-production in everyday practice. His work has helped councils deliver millions of pounds in efficiencies by implementing evidence-informed approaches that improve services for adults and children.
