Dr Varney-Bennett has worked at local, regional, national and international levels of the public health system, with particular expertise around diversity and inclusion, inactivity, health and work and creative health. His career has spanned the NHS from the front line as a clinician to the executive leadership team, in a range of local authorities , regional and national government as well as secondments into national charities and internationally as a Thinker in Residence.
