Ian Thomas CBE is the 51st Town Clerk and Chief Executive of the City of London Corporation, serving as Head of Paid Service and principal policy adviser to the Policy and Resources Committee. He leads one of the world’s most historic and influential civic institutions, with responsibility for delivering a wide range of public, charitable and commercial services, while overseeing the organisation’s strategic direction and performance. He leads on ensuring the effective management of the Corporation’s activities across the UK and internationally. Prior to joining the City of London Corporation, Ian held senior leadership roles across local government, including serving as Chief Executive and Director of Children’s Services. With a public service career spanning more than four decades, he is recognised for his commitment to transformational leadership, organisational excellence, inclusion and partnership working. Ian is also an experienced mentor and advocate for developing future leaders.
