Graham Farrant
Chief Executive
BCP Council

Graham Farrant has been Chief Executive of the new Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council since 1 January 2019. He has worked to ensure a smooth transition from the four preceding councils to the new Unitary Authority - BCP Council - which is one of the largest in the country and serves a clearly defined urban population in the three towns. Previously he was Chief Executive and Chief Land Registrar at HM Land Registry. During that time he worked to create a more efficient, highly automated and faster-moving organisation with clarity of purpose and a new corporate strategy to focus on maximising the coverage of the Register and maintaining the integrity of the Register. Graham led the strategic review within HM Land Registry and a wide-ranging transformation programme and built stronger relationships across government and the wider conveyancing industry as a whole, including with local government. Graham has considerable experience in both the private and public sectors, including as Chief Executive of Thurrock Council, where his leadership achieved significant improvements in the council’s performance and reputation, quality of service and efficiency. Graham has also served as Chief Executive at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and Brentwood Councils. Graham’s private sector experience includes being Chief Executive of Leisure Connection Ltd, a national operator of sports and leisure centres and a pmpgenesis, sports and business leadership consultancy. Graham graduated from Brunel University with an MSc in Environmental Pollution Science and Thames Polytechnic, now the University of Greenwich, with a BSc (hons) in Environmental Health.
