Martin is Deputy Chief Executive and Executive Director Supporting People for the London Borough of Camden. This position includes the role of DCS but also covers integrated commissioning, Adult Social Care and other ‘people’ services. Martin is Chair of the Association of London Directors Children’s Services (ALDCS) and is a member of the Council of Reference of The Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS). Martin has over thirty-five years’ experience in Local Government, specialising in the field of Children’s Services and Education. He is a member of the DfE COVID-19 Recovery Advisory Group. Martin has contributed a chapter to ‘Rethinking Children’s Services’ (National Children’s Bureau and Catch 22, 2015) and he co-authored a chapter in "Moving on from Munro" (Policy Press, 2014) on Local Safeguarding Children Boards. More recently co-authored “An absence of science and the power of relationships– systemic conversations at community level” (Context 160, 2019), and “Cross-school ‘close-to-practice’ research, system leadership and local civic partnership re-engineering an inner-city learning community” (London Review of Education 2020)
