Emma joined Derbyshire County Council in 2017 as Executive Director and was appointed as Managing Executive Director in January 2021. Emma started her career in finance in the private sector and then took a role at her local council in Luton, where her love for public service was ignited. Emma has worked in a broad range of roles from corporate services to environment, waste management to highways. After Luton she moved to Leicester City Council and then Macclesfield Council, followed by a position as Corporate Director for Trafford Council and then Corporate Director at Oldham Council where she was part of the turnaround leadership team that won the LGC Most Improved Council award. Whilst at Oldham, Emma took on the additional role of Managing Director for the Unity Partnership, a public-private joint venture company. A move to the private sector as Business Services Director at Kier Group PLC preceded her return to local government at Derbyshire County Council. A University of Bristol graduate with a BSc in Geography, Emma is also an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
