James is responsible for leading the County Council's Economic Development & Skills service, delivering a wide range of projects and initiatives to improve the performance of the East Sussex economy. This includes extensive engagement with Local Enterprise Partnerships and several other key partners. James is also responsible for the Planning & Environment Service, which includes development control functions, strategic land use and waste and minerals planning and flood risk management. James is the current Chair of the Chief Economic Development Officers Society (CEDOS) which seeks to share knowledge and best practice, engage with decision makers and sector experts to influence economic development policy.
