Helen Briggs joined Rutland County Council in 2006, prior to which she was Community Director for Stronger, Safer and Sustainable Communities at Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council.
Since joining Rutland, she has worked closely with each of the Council’s directorates, building on high standards of front line services and navigating the significant challenges facing local authorities nationwide.
Led by Helen, Rutland’s Senior Management Team works together towards a clear set of strategic aims and objectives, adopting a ‘One Council’ ethos to provide sustainable growth, safe and healthy communities and fiscal stability through a balanced and well-managed medium term financial plan.
With big ambitions, Helen has positioned Rutland as a forward-thinking Council which is gaining ever greater recognition for innovation, success in health and social care integration and for its work with the local Armed Forces Community.
Looking ahead, Rutland will continue to work towards greater sustainability through a more commercially-focused agenda, while striving to improve local services by exploring ways to rationalise and consolidate the county’s public estate.
