Steve Rumbelow is Chief Executive of Rochdale Council. He took up his current post in 2014, having previously been Chief Executive of Burnley Council where he spearheaded many projects that have raised the east Lancashire town’s profile and status.
He is now driving forward Rochdale’s ambitious £250 million town centre regeneration programme and helping to raise the profile of Greater Manchester’s best-connected borough. Steve has worked in Local Government for 36 years with Manchester City Council, Leeds City Council, Ashfield District Council and Rotherham Borough Council.
Steve is also the lead Chief Executive on housing, planning and homelessness for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).
