Diana Terris became Chief Executive of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council in July 2012.
Diana has significant experience in Local Government having delivered transformation and improvements from neighbourhood working to borough-wide regeneration schemes. Under Diana’s leadership, Barnsley MBC was shortlisted for eight categories at the LGC Awards 2018 and won the Community Improvement award along with three highly commended.
Having qualified at Warwick University, Diana started work as a social worker for Surrey County Council. She worked for the London Boroughs of Richmond and Kinston-upon-Thames. Diana has worked within the Public Sector across the North gaining significant experience in providing customer centric Place, People and Community services.
Diana is an active member of a number of regional and sub-regional bodies including, Clerk to the Sheffield City Region Combined Authority, Chair of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, a member of the Transport for the North Executive Board, Clerk to South Yorkshire Pensions Authority and the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority and Secretary of SIGOMA. She is also the Lieutenancy Clerk to Her Majesty’s The Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire.
