Local Government Association (LGA)
David Holdstock is the Director of Communications at the Local Government Association (LGA).
Working in public sector communications for the last 30 years, he has wide experience of proactive campaigns, crisis communications, public affairs and Parliamentary work. David has led a number of award-winning teams for a unitary council, a London borough and the Metropolitan Police Service in a variety of communications roles.
David has worked on a number of high profile events such as Diana, Princess of Wales’ funeral, the Docklands bomb and the Paddington rail disaster. Working with the Foreign Office, he helped develop police and Government communications in Bulgaria following the changes in Eastern Europe
Having led the development of the LGA’s communications support and improvement offer, the team has supported more than 100 councils. More widely, he helped to develop the LGcommunications future leaders programme, aimed at developing new talent in the public sector communications industry.
David was national Chairman of LGcommunications between 2008 and 2012, was the PRCA in-house professional of the year in 2010 and has been chairman of judges for the PCA national awards for the last five years.
