Alex has been at the heart of politics and policy discussions for more than two decades. Prior to joining Solace, Alex worked at the LGA as the Principal Policy Adviser on devolution, skills, culture, tourism and sport, after a stint as a Director in the public affairs industry. That followed six years as the Chief Executive of Localis, the leading think tank on issues related to devolution and local government, before which he developed the Conservative Party’s thinking on devolution, local government, housing and planning, and wrote the Party’s Green Papers on devolution, housing and planning ahead of the 2010 general election. Alex started his career as a civil servant in various Whitehall departments including DCLG and DEFRA.
